Faysal began his journey at Touchstone Energy as a web developer, helping co-op members with website migrations and ongoing support. Over time, his passion for cybersecurity became the driving force in his career. He now leads the cybersecurity side of the SHiNE program, where he ensures co-op websites are secure, compliant, and resilient. With a strong foundation from his time on the NRECA information security team, Faysal brings a hands-on, strategic approach to managing and strengthening security for co-op communities.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in web development and a master’s degree in cybersecurity from George Mason University. Faysal is Security+ certified and currently preparing for the CISSP exam. He leads a wide range of initiatives for SHiNE, including vulnerability management, compliance with ISO 27001 and NIST standards, and robust protections like a Web Application Firewall (WAF), DDoS mitigation, and real-time monitoring. He also champions secure Drupal configurations, proactive incident response planning, and ongoing risk assessments—helping ensure member sites stay one step ahead of today’s cybersecurity threats.
